Invited by the Govern de les Illes Balears and Open Cosmos, we joined the event marking the start of the operational phase of Posidonia.

Spascat was pleased to be invited to the event celebrating the launch of Posidonia, the first satellite of the Balearic Islands, held at the ParcBit Auditorium in Palma. The event brought together the President of the Govern de les Illes Balears, Marga Prohens, and the founder and CEO of Open Cosmos, Rafel Jordà, alongside the local partners that have made the mission possible.

Developed, co-financed and operated by Open Cosmos, Posidonia will strengthen the Earth observation capabilities of the archipelago to improve environmental and territorial management. During the event, attendees witnessed the delivery of the first image captured by the satellite, marking the start of its operational phase.

Congratulations to the Govern de les Illes Balears, Open Cosmos and all the partners involved — Wireless DNA, the University of the Balearic Islands, Garden Hotel Group and FEHM, Federación Empresarial Hotelera de Mallorca.

At Spascat, we look forward to integrating Posidonia imagery into our products to support coastal and agricultural monitoring across the islands, further extending the downstream applications of Earth observation in the Mediterranean.
