REMOT supports Raimat in the earliest harvest in its history

This year we have worked with Raimat validating REMOT.app as a decision-support tool for field work and precision irrigation.

This week, Raimat has started the earliest grape harvest in its history — a clear sign of how climate change is already altering the calendars and the needs of our crops.

Precisely this year, at Spascat we have been working together with the Raimat team on the validation of REMOT.app as a decision-support tool for the management of field work and precision irrigation. Earth observation technology can help the agricultural sector anticipate what is coming, take decisions with more information and better manage resources as scarce as water.

REMOT, developed with Raventós Codorníu and AGROPIXEL as end users, is one of the winning projects of the second Earth Observation Use Case Ideas Competition for the Private Sector, promoted by the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Departament d’Empresa i Treball and coordinated by the Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) within the Catalunya Espai 2030 Strategy. After a year of development and testing, the project has been incorporated into the ESA Phi-Lab Spain portfolio, leveraging data from the Menut satellite to optimise irrigation over large areas.

Many thanks to Raventós Codorníu and AGROPIXEL for being part of this project, one more year.
